“The Exorcist” started as a novel by William Peter Blatty in 1971. He got the idea from a real exorcism case in 1949 involving a boy called “Roland Doe.” Blatty found the whole thing interesting while he was at Georgetown. Then, of course, there was the movie adaptation. You know, it's just another horror story based on something that happened. Robert E. Lee was a general in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. He led the Army of Northern Virginia and was named general-in-chief of all Confederate forces in 1865. Lee had some notable victories in 1862, but his defeat at Gettysburg in July 1863 was pretty significant. It’s just one of those historical things we all kind of know about, I guess.
