“The Exorcist” started as a novel by William Peter Blatty in 1971. He got the idea from a real exorcism case in 1949 involving a boy called “Roland Doe.” Blatty found the whole thing interesting while he was at Georgetown. Then, of course, there was the movie adaptation. You know, it's just another horror story based on something that happened.
