  • So, March 2021 is here, and apparently, there are some new releases that folks are buzzing about. If you're into urban fantasy or paranormal romance, you might want to pay attention, but I won’t be shocked if you don’t. It’s just another month, right?

First up, we have Patricia Briggs dropping something. If you like her stuff, you probably know what to expect. Then there's Leigh Bardugo, who seems to have a strong following. People love her, but honestly, I can’t keep up with all these fantasy worlds. It’s all a bit much, isn’t it?

Adrienne Young and Aiden Thomas are in the mix too. Their books usually get some hype, and people seem to read them while sipping coffee or something. Can’t say I’d be excited to pick them up, though. Just feels like another day, another release.

Christine Feehan is also on the list, which might interest the paranormal romance fans. If you're into that, great for you. Personally, I feel like it’s the same old stories recycled. Cassandra Clare is here too, but I'm not sure how many more Shadowhunters we can take before it gets exhausting.

Tracy Wolff has something coming as well, and I guess it’s nice for her fans. But let’s be real—how many times can we read about magical creatures and epic battles? It’s all blending together for me.

If you’re looking to update your to-read list, I guess now is the time, but honestly, it’s a bit of a chore. Just click the book titles to hit the Amazon page if you’re feeling adventurous enough to pre-order or buy one. I mean, if you end up buying a book or two, that’s cool, I guess.

Anyway, March is just another month filled with books that might or might not end up on your shelf. Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things, does it?

  • February 2021 is here, and if you’re still looking for something to read, well, there are a few new releases you might consider. Sarah J. Maas, Jeaniene Frost, Karen Marie Moning, Julie Kagawa, Charlaine Harris, and others have some books out this month. Not that it really matters, but they’re there if you want to add to your to-read list or whatever.

I mean, there are some urban fantasy and paranormal romance books, so if that’s your thing, great. If not, I guess you can just scroll through and find something else to do. The release dates are tentative, so who knows if they will actually come out when they’re supposed to? But if you’re the type to pre-order, you can click on the titles to visit the Amazon page and see if you want to buy them or just stare at them.

Honestly, the excitement is pretty low. I can’t say I’m jumping out of my seat for any of these books. It’s just another month, and there are always more books coming out. It’s like, why stress about it? You could read these new releases or you could just binge-watch something instead. Choices, I guess.

If you do decide to pick up any of these books, I hope you find some enjoyment in them. That’s the point, right? But if it’s all too much, just take a nap or something. It’s February; nothing too exciting ever really happens anyway.

So, if you’re curious, go ahead and check them out. But if you’re not feeling it, that’s totally fine too. Just another day, another month, another batch of books. Whatever.

  • What is wrong with the publishing industry? Seriously, January 2021 rolls around, and we’re bombarded with a slew of new releases from authors like Ilona Andrews, Brigid Kemmerer, Seanan McGuire, and Ann Aguirre, yet here we are, sitting with the same tired tropes and recycled plots. Are we really expected to keep our "to-read" lists updated with this same old garbage? It’s infuriating!

Let’s talk about the so-called “hot urban fantasy and paranormal romance releases.” What a joke! Instead of pushing boundaries and exploring new ideas, these authors are sticking to what’s comfortable—vampires, werewolves, and the same love triangles that have been beaten to death. We want innovation, not a rehash of what we’ve already read a hundred times over. It’s 2021, for heaven's sake! Why are we still trapped in this cycle of mediocrity?

And don't even get me started on the marketing tactics. Click the title of any book to visit the Amazon page for pre-order or purchase goodness? Is that what you call it? This isn’t about “goodness,” it’s about profit margins. The industry is more focused on getting us to empty our wallets than on delivering quality literature that challenges us and expands our horizons. Are we just walking wallets now, mindlessly scrolling through a list of “tentative” release dates, drooling over the latest clichés?

What about the readers who crave substance? We are fed up with being treated like a market segment rather than a community of passionate readers. There’s a glaring lack of authenticity in these releases. Where’s the depth? Where’s the emotional resonance? Instead, we get formulas designed for mass consumption, and it’s absolutely maddening!

The urban fantasy genre is bursting with potential, yet all this industry can serve is the same bland fare. It’s like they’re resting on their laurels, thinking that the mere presence of a popular author’s name is enough to get us to fork over our hard-earned cash. Well, newsflash: we’re not buying it anymore! Our expectations have risen, and we deserve better than this pitiful parade of mediocrity.

So here’s a call to action for all readers—stop supporting this nonsense! Demand more from your literary heroes! If the industry isn’t willing to take risks or challenge the status quo, then we need to send a clear message that we won’t accept anything less than extraordinary. Let’s push for originality, creativity, and genuine storytelling.

January 2021 could have been a month of groundbreaking releases, but instead, it’s just another reminder of how far the publishing world has fallen. Let’s put our money where our values are and support those brave enough to take risks, rather than lining the pockets of those who are content with mediocrity.
