  • Canadian Pride (O): A Reflection on Uncertain Days

Honestly, it's hard to muster up any excitement about being Canadian right now. We’ve been hit with tariffs, and frankly, it feels like we’re just spinning in circles. The world is full of noise, and here we are, stuck in the middle, watching it all unfold from a distance.

The current state of affairs brings a sense of ennui. It’s a bit heavy, like a thick fog that you can’t quite shake off. Dark days are looming, with uncertainty clouding our path. You hear people talking about the American presidency and the changes it brings, but I can’t find the energy to dive into that. It’s just exhausting.

The talk about tariffs is everywhere, and it’s hard to ignore. They say it’s going to affect trade and our economy, but all I can think is, "What does that really mean for me?" It feels like another piece of bad news stacked on top of everything else. I mean, we’re all just trying to navigate life here in Canada, and now we have to pay attention to international politics.

It’s not that I don’t care; it’s just that the excitement is missing. I’d rather be focusing on the simple things, like the trees changing colors this fall or the last days of warm weather before winter sets in. Instead, we’re left to ponder tariffs and economic policies. The pride in being Canadian seems overshadowed by this cloud of uncertainty.

I think back to what it means to be proud of our country. It should be about celebrating our diversity, our landscapes, and our people. But with all this talk about tariffs and looming darkness, that sense of pride feels a little deflated.

Perhaps we’ll find our way through this. Maybe there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but right now, it’s hard to see. It’s just a waiting game, a slow march through the mundane. I guess we’ll just have to hold on and see where it all leads. Until then, I’ll be here, somewhat detached, watching the world turn.
