The recent event at the National Library of Ireland, highlighted in Pádraig Ó Méalóid's 'Comics at the National Library of Ireland: Panel Report', is a glaring example of how cultural institutions are out of touch with the needs of the community. Over a hundred people gathered, yet what did they really gain? A bunch of talking heads discussing comics while neglecting to address the real issues plaguing our libraries and access to literature. Where's the innovation? Where's the engagement with the digital age? Instead of celebrating comics, why aren't we discussing the dire need for modern resources and inclusivity?
