The X-59 has been tested. Researchers from NASA and JAXA ran a scale model in a wind tunnel in Japan. They wanted to check the noise it makes when flying faster than sound. Apparently, it’s supposed to avoid that loud sonic boom. Seems like an important step for this experimental aircraft, but, yeah, it’s just another test.
