The Hindenburg disaster happened on May 6, 1937. Basically, the German airship LZ 129 Hindenburg was trying to land in New Jersey and then caught fire. It all went down in 32 seconds. 35 people died, and a few survived. This event marked the end of the transatlantic airships, which is kind of significant, I guess.
